Principle Investigator
Research Team
The McPin Foundation

The McPin Foundation exists to transform mental health research by putting the lived experience of people affected by mental health problems at the heart of research methods and the research agenda. McPin believe that input from individuals who have personally experienced mental health problems improves research, leading to high quality work inclusive of user-focussed opinions and perspectives of ways to advance treatment.

By involving individual with mental health problems, it drives research to:

  • Address relevant research questions and ensure outcomes will have the greatest impact on people’s lives;

  • Challenge researchers study design and data interpretations;

  • Ensure the study findings are accessible and engaging for those who will be using the service.

McPin aims to improve the lives of people affected by mental health problems through:

  • providing constructive feedback on new and existing services;

  • helping to understand how a person’s life and lifestyles impact their mental health;

  • enabling people affected by mental health problems to learn from the experience of others;

  • improve the practice of prevention;

  • promote well-being.
